| Samuel L. (Sam) Sprinkle was born and raised in Franklin (Macon County), North Carolina, and developed a passion for land surveying as a teenager, working for his father on weekends and during breaks from school. After graduation from Franklin High School in 1985, Sam attended Asheville-Buncombe Technical College, graduating in 1987 with an Associate in Applied Science Degree in Civil Engineering Technology. Sam followed his degree by attending the University of North Carolina at Asheville in 1988.
After college, Sam worked as a draftsman for a structural engineering firm in Asheville before accepting a position in 1989 with the Location and Surveys Division of the North Carolina Department of Transportation. While with NCDOT, Sam specialized in Highway Engineering, CADD, and GPS surveying, with responsibility for 31 counties in the western end of North Carolina, and became a licensed Professional Land Surveyor in North Carolina in June 1993.
In 1995, Sam joined his father, Lamar, at Sprinkle Land Surveying in Franklin, North Carolina, and subsequently became a partner in Sprinkle Surveying, P.A. He continues to specialize in GPS surveying, as well as all other forms of land surveying in support of land development. Sam is also President of Samuel L. Sprinkle And Associates, P.A., in Hayesville, North Carolina.
